Serve warm with custard, yoghurt, cream or on its own.
Apple & pear crumble
A proper seasonal pudding combining tart apples and sweet pears under a crisp oat topping.
Method
- 1
Heat the oven to 180°C fan. Peel, core and slice the apples and pears.
- 2
Place the fruit in a baking dish and toss with cinnamon and a spoonful of the sugar.
- 3
Rub butter into flour, then stir through oats and remaining sugar. Scatter loosely over the fruit.
- 4
Bake for 35–40 minutes until bubbling at the edges and golden on top.
Damsons or plums can replace part of the apple for an even more seasonal version.
Cool, cover and refrigerate for up to 3 days. Reheat until piping hot if serving warm.
Contains milk and wheat/gluten. Oats may contain gluten depending on processing.
